Forum Title: Propecia Generic Date - Experiences & Insights

NickName_42Hey everyone, I’ve been using the generic version of Propecia (finasteride) since early this year. My pharmacist mentioned that it's from 2012. Should I be worried about its efficacy or safety? Any experiences or insights?

MediHelp89Hi NickName_42! If the medication is stored properly and hasn't expired, there shouldn’t be any major concerns about its safety or efficacy. Finasteride is generally very stable. But it's always good to double-check with your pharmacist for peace of mind.

NickName_42Thanks, MediHelp89! I'll check that out. Do you have experience using the generic version?

MediHelp89Not personally, but my clinic sees a lot of patients who use generics. They seem to do just fine with them. Just make sure it's from a reputable source and not expired.

HairGuru101Hey NickName_42! I've been using generic finasteride for about 5 years now, including some batches that were manufactured in 2012. The key is proper storage: cool place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. If these conditions are met, the medication should be fine.

NickName_42Thanks for your input, HairGuru101! That’s really helpful. I'll make sure to keep it in a cool, dry place then.

DocOnCall911Good advice from both of you! Just to add, the stability and shelf-life of finasteride are quite long, often up to 5 years or more if stored correctly. However, always check for any signs of discoloration or unusual texture changes which might indicate degradation.

NickName_42DocOnCall911, thank you so much! I’ll keep an eye out for those signs and maybe ask my pharmacist about the storage conditions too.

HealthyLife78Just wanted to chime in. If it’s from a reliable source like a government-approved pharmacy or reputable online store, there shouldn't be any issues with using older batches as long as they haven’t expired and are stored properly. I’ve seen generic finasteride batches dating back a few years work just fine.

NickName_42HealthyLife78, that’s really reassuring to hear! I’ll make sure it comes from a reputable source going forward.

DocOnCall911Absolutely agree with HealthyLife78. It's always good practice to verify the authenticity and storage conditions of your medications. If you have any doubts or concerns, consulting with a healthcare provider can also provide reassurance.

NickName_42Thanks everyone! I feel much more confident now about using the generic version. Your insights are invaluable!

HairGuru101You're welcome, NickName_42! Always happy to help. Good luck with your hair health journey!
